AJP members give helping hand to animal sanctuary

Animal Justice Party (AJP) members on the Sunshine Coast recently visited Happily Heifer After animal sanctuary to give a helping hand with some jobs around the facility. Regional Group Leader Sally Milne organised the visit as part of a series of "hands on" events designed to acquaint AJP Members with the animals and issues that the Party stands for.

Milne says "Today was a reminder that there are some of the most compassionate people imaginable in our area. We hope one day that we don't have so many animals relying on the kindness of a few. Michelle, founder of the Happily Ever After farm sanctuary, welcomed us with open arms. We took a tour to meet all the animals, then got stuck in to remove a huge pile of branches from the last flood clean up, followed by some well deserved cakes."

The AJP understands that the sanctuary has saved over 800 farmed animals in the last 4 years, and calls on the Queensland Government to provide funding to assist similar registered charities with their rescue and educational work.
