Pamela Mariko

Candidate for Sunshine Coast - Division 2

Having lived in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast for over twenty-three years, Pamela is standing as your Local Government election candidate to protect the local environment.

Pamela is grateful to live as part of the Sunshine Coast community, which she says was one of Australia’s best-kept secrets, and is a highly desirable place to live. She has a breadth of experience across business, financial services, project marketing, and freelance writing for both national media and industry journals, and is also an author and yoga teacher.

Pamela is passionate about animal ethics, the environment, and human-to-human cooperation. She believes that, like humans, all animals have a basic right to live free from pain and suffering. She is campaigning for stronger local government conservation policies to protect the environment, vulnerable ecosystems, koalas, and kangaroos in developing areas.

"Local Government has a responsibility to limit urban sprawl and protect our natural environment. I am also committed to working with Council to phase-out animal breeding facilities such as puppy mills and kitten farms."

Pamela is also committed to ensuring greener modes of transport, and when elected will work with the local community to ensure the Sunshine Coast region is doing its part in necessary climate action. She also supports the Animal Justice Party's plan for a just transition for animal agriculture jobs, supporting industry workers into growing plant-based alternatives which are sustainable for animals and our planet.
