Liela lives in the Redlands with her partner and rescue dogs. Her background in Human Resources and long involvement in vegan events have helped her build strong connections across the vegan and animal advocacy community.
Her passion for animal protection comes from years of hands-on rescue work - fostering, rehabilitating and rehoming animals in need. After seeing the same cycle repeat itself, saving countless dogs only to see more enter the system, Liela realised that real change has to start at the root.
That’s why she believes in the work of the Animal Justice Party. For Liela, it’s the pathway to lasting change is through education, and stronger laws that prevent cruelty before it happens.
Since joining the committee in 2024, Liela has been involved in two elections, taken on a variety of roles, run as a state candidate and has now stepped up as Convenor. She’s passionate about creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to take part in the movement for animals.
